Lotus T127 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

That outside winglet/vane seems to be Toyota TF109-like

Looks like they've added a slot along the footplate, I've not seen that on the lotus before

the whole wing itself is different, the end plate is different, compining both the dual end plate and single end plate together. An also the third plane has an weird wavy shape

It's not surprising, as we all know, they've hired few aero guys from Toyota. What I'm wondering, is if the gossips about engine and hydraulic deal with Renault will prove to be true.

OFICIAL: Cosworth end supply with Lotus.

http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2010/09/12/c ... ne-supply/

Lotus are already looking like they will take the step up in 2011 and go straignt into the midfeild action. Also Tony Fernandez also said on the BBC1 F1 Forum that he and his team have just unravled the logistics of what is where in the naming rights of the Team Lotus name. Could the Team Lotus name make its way onto the 2011 entry list???

Toyota and MG had a history of copying sucessful aero concepts from other teams in the past. I do not see them risking too much to come up with their own concept from scratch.

But then again they could surprise us with a unique Gascoyne design as the R23.

Gascoyne is not an Aerodynamicist these days, If anything you would expect the 2011 car to look more like the Force India if Mark Smith joins the team earlier enough to influence the basic aero package.

if the new renault engine and gearbox was put into this years car, roughly, how much extra time would it be worth?

in your dreams...nothing.if there was an advantage it would be fuel consumption =lower starting weight =better full tank performance...Maybe the Renault box is a lot more efficient than the xtrac thing. So those 2% could be of help in lap time.the main advantage would be getting rid of their major reliabilty issue.
