Great news for McLaren, I start to believe more and more now that Mercedes will retire as a team and stay as a PU provider only
Exactly the same.
Mercedes has nothing to win to stay in 2021. They must fire people, they risk to lose.
So ending in 2020 on a title is perfect
And then a McLaren Mercedes partnership. It would be perfect
Its a backward step if they keep the same engine regs. Next year Renault will have more power than Merc thats for sure. Merc had 3 years of advantage and now they are massively behind Ferrari. Cant see them catching Ferrari. The whinge from Hamilton and Wolff about lacking power is a so refreshing.
You can’t make that type of assertion... We don’t know if Renault will be more powerful than Mercedes.
Has Renault closed the gap to them? Absolutely... But in F1, no one stays static and Mercedes hasn’t stopped developing their engine either.
All the engines are converging and soon there won’t be a lot of difference between them... Mercedes knows that the difference with Ferrari is on deployment and surely they are already working on their own solution (just as Renault and Honda are doing for sure).
The difference between the Mercedes and the Ferrari engine this season has been exacerbated by the different concepts between the teams... The Ferrari not only has more power, but it’s also less draggy than Mercedes and that multiplies the effect of the additional horsepower they have.
