Yes, that is an interesting comparison. But also, 1,5 second to the next team is 1,5 second. How close the rest of the pack is doesn’t really matter, you still have your 1,5 seconds. That’s two major errors and a minor one in your qualy hotlap and you still start from P2.
That's how Rosberg almost won a title in 2014. He could be scruffy and still start P2.
True, very frustrating, to the point it was almost unfair. But yes, this sport has years like that. Not so much now as the qualy gap isn’t that large.
