Exactly! And some should remember that this was a criminal offense. A jail term of 18 month isn't a verdict that you get in a European court for a parking offense. Stepney is a sentenced criminal now. Some people will care, others not.

This case seems to deal with only the sabotage charges. What about the espionage charges? Were those charges tried earlier, or are they yet to come to court, or have they now been dropped?

One thing I always wonder about is if Schumachers car also got sabotaged in the last 2 races of 2006? Remember during Suzuka race Schumacher suffered under a very surprising engine failure on his way to win the world championship. It was the first time the car had a engine failure and a technical failure at all since (I thin it was) Hockenheim 2001.
Then in the next race at Brasil there was trouble on his car again. During qualy he had some unexpected trouble causing him to start from a very bad position in the race. They said it was something like fuel pump or so and they said the problem is solved. Nevertheless during the race the car almost stopped a few times. For me this is very suspicious when you keep in mind that this was the most reliable car of all the times and over several years. It never failed for years and then 2 times in row.

Stepney probably already knew at that time what kind of job he will get the next year so already was pissed and had a reason to sabotage the car.
Hmm are you suggesting that Alonso had contact with Stepney in 2006 to win the WDC and then took him to Mclaren for 2007. He really did bring his 6/10th :)

Connecting Stepney with Alonso is to speculative in first instance but I do think that the Ferrari car got manipulated during 2006. Still possible that Renault/Briatore stands behind it.
Stepney is very suspicious for it. Now it is proven that he did manipulate the cars during 2007 so it is also likely that he did it before.
I can't really understand or see a obvious reason why he did sabotage during Monaco GP. It would be interesting to know what and who was behind that action. For 2006 it is much easier to find reasons for such action and I think there was something going on.

Thats a rather bold claim, do you care to elaborate? Let's be honest I think a lot of things, but I try not to share them publicly unless I can substantiate them. I'm not trying to be confrontational, I just want to hear your point of view.

I was under the impresion that he admited to the espionage, but denies the sabotage claims. Care to enlighten me on this one? I appologize if you have previously posted links to sources, I only jumped on this tread about 3 pages ago.

Thanks in advance.

Of course there are no real proves otherwise there would be a biger discusion going on.
Its just something I can imagine to have happened similar like the crashgate. It came out a year later and only because one of the offenders started to talk. At least there are indicators that sabotage could have happened so we should keep that in mind.

OMG!!
i was depressed for a month after 2006 Japanese GP, it was devastating for me.
If it was done by Traitor Stefny i would be heart broken again, 2006 MS deserved to win that WDC INHO.
