Its unlikely from a practical point of view to fit the Renault power train to the car this yea, but if it were, it would probably be quite a step. The Renault engine while probably no more powerful, is almost certainly more drivable than the cosworth, plus it has better fuel consumption. Then the gearbox\hydraulic set up will be certainly stiffer\lighter than the Xtrac system, not to mention devoid of the reliability issues that have plagued the team.
Then we need to remember that the gearbox casing was developed by Dallara for the Campos\HRT project. Not to be little Dallara undoubted skills, but I'd say the rear suspension geometry that is incorporated into the Renault gear case would be more effective than the Dallara\Xtrac set up. so a benefit in traction and tyre wear would be likely.
