With the delayed race I should finally find the time to write an article about that. There are some simple rules of thumb to do it. I hope they will work on the MantiumRacer.
Thank you, I will wait for your write up.

Quick questions about the MFlow PostProcessing. Does it need to be a successful CFD run made with the latest version? Or can we use a previous run (made with V0.98c)?

Hey guys I'm changing apartments and will now have space to set up.a workstation. Where can I source the mantium wflow and the awesome windows gui ive read so much about?

You need to have successfuly run the simulation. You need the log files and the vtk files in postProcessing/surfaces.
Unfortunately the tool is not backwards compatible but there is a trick.
Use the new MantiumWFlow and recreate your case with it. But do not run it again. This is only to update these two *mwf files in the postProcessing folder. Then you can use the new post-processing tool. It will create an html file in the postProcessing folder which you can open with an internet browser.

You can download MantiumWFlow from the challenge page in the files section. The awesome GUI currently does not support the newest MantiuMWFlow which contains the new hopefully working post-processor. So both options have their good and bad sides. I am sure that HP-Racing will soon update the GUI.

I would really like for a Windows user to confirm that the new tool works for him.

I was wondering if a Linux virtual machine with everything we need pre installed (OpenFoam, WFlow, WFlow PP, Paraview, FreeCAD, ...) wouldn't be easier to manage.

I've set 'c\Users' to 'c:\openfoam'. Ran the two desktop shortcuts but I get nothing in c:\openfoam and can't see the expanded tar in there. pwd says I'm at /home/ofuser. pwd says workingDir is '/home/ofuser/workingDir'

Where did I efup?

You should check this out:

With some luck your question is already answered there.
If not, please put it there but a bit clearer please because right now I do not understand what you are doing.

Never mind, I'd messed up the shared folder name.

Hi, I forgot to mention one important thing. Your cars have gotten so good that you are reaching the limits of the CFD setup. On the good cars convergence took much longer. If you stick to the settings provided with the standard mvrc template the simulations will not converge within the fixed 1500 iterations. For this race I had to use 2500 iterations on the best cars. You will receive your reports the coming days. I have added a new template called "mvrc_long" in the new version. The top dogs should try and see if they need it for their cars.

I am a (maybe ex) top dog and I think that to not have the control of the iterations number could be confusing.

To avoid this (and to keep the usual 1500 iterations) I auto limited the angle of attack of the diffuser (30° >>> 20°), the exit angle (32° >>> 25/30°, I don't remeber exactly) and the diffuser height (320mm >>> 295mm).

The problem I had during last race seems to be solved, but I lost about 10% of df and effciency (the same amount I lost in the last race when the official sokution has been set to 2500 iterations).

If necessary, I will further reduce the angles and the diffuser exit area (height and width).

PS: The OS car is already ok, the diffuser is not so extreme as the original one.

Ok, I'm trying to install in another system and here's what I get during foam install:

After the installer finishes I open VirtualBox and there's no default VM there.

Well as I enjoy sounding like a broken record player, please head over to here:

I am almost sure this one has been answered.
If not it is in the actual error message and in the great instruction provided by HP-Racing:
http://mantiumchallenge.com/installatio ... 6-windows/
They should really help with installing OF on Windows.

But reading the error messages of Windows is interesting. What is "a policy defined at a more specific scope." supposed to mean?
