Ferrari F138

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I thought in rain is not allowed DRS, so why Massa has it openned? a bit useless, don,t you think?. Except if something is going on. No?

It is testing - not a race - so anything goes.
The cars does not even have to be legal - no weight checks or any of that stuff

Possibly testing DRS or something DRS related :)

Also, the new car will have different reaction and reaction time to the engaging and disengaging of DRS - Felipe may be acquainting himself with that?

I understand is testing, my point is, why to do it on rain conditions and extreme water tyres and don,t do it when is dry? If when is raining on race conditions is banned.
In my dreams i would love something is happening when drs is oppening, i guess is unlikely ;-)
the other reason, maybe, they are taking pictures of themselves as the spray water draws the air flow around the car, more precisely than flow viz painting.
Am i crazy? :$

I cannot read it either but the picture is a bogus pic if they are explaining the F138. If it is a future development, maybe. But the hiughlited parts are not and have not been on the F138.

Fro this pciture previously posted on the thread it seems that the f138 has a coulpe of vertical waals in the sidepod inlets, to separate the flows to radiators, kers etc. The spacing seem different compared to w04 for example.
The dark IB zone near the driver should be tha cahssis which is larger to house the tank in theat zone. Would be interesting to compare with other cars and to last year's f2012. Iirc those separators are not a novelty, but the raltive propotions are different

Ferrari did a Flow vis run on BCN-T02-Day 4 with nose that had little side strakes fitted to both sides of front nose cone.

Gamma adjustments are your friend.

Interestingly, it appears the radiators are veiled.

They seem to be covered just like McLaren did with their brake ducts to keep debris out
