For all we know that gearbox might have been on the car since Jerez.elMaestro wrote:A gearbox problem for Hamilton to end his running for today with 89 laps onboard. Alot of laps really , but these problems coming up its got to be worrying for Mercedes.
Highly unlikely. I'm starting to worry aswell. And if the article about Mercedes failing the crash test with their new FW is true, it doesn't make the situation much better.Coefficient wrote:For all we know that gearbox might have been on the car since Jerez.elMaestro wrote:A gearbox problem for Hamilton to end his running for today with 89 laps onboard. Its highly likely, its winter testing parts are scarce. Also you want to find the limit for parts. If you keep changing parts you will never know if can reach the target its suppose to reach. Also if you make a lot of parts and during testing you find a fundamental flaw in a part all the shelf parts would be useless and also a waist of money. During testing teams find it hard to have spare parts because the machine room also needs to start working on parts that are planned for fly a way races. Thats why teams are staying in to pits a lot longer because they need the fix the part instead of replacing it which is common practice during the race season.Helios wrote:Highly unlikely. The new FW failing the crash test will also hurt them because whereas they wouldve gathered much needed data in Bahrain, they are going to have to do that in Australia, but its better that they have these kinds of problems occuring because you would rather have a gearbox failure in a test rather in a race in which i think the Merc's are going to be competitive in.Helios wrote:Highly unlikely. Green ellipse : barge boards like Lotus 2013
Red circle: that`s a sensor, a IR cam or the pickup point of the old sidepod vane?
Note that there are on both sides of the car ...

Yes they will have it in Melbourne if the nose will pass the crash test scheduled for 10 March 2014. All the chanches that with some little modifications from the composite department, the nose will be on the car in Australia. So, finger crossed for 10 Marchheimana wrote:so will they have the new nose in melbourne?mclaren_mircea wrote:Mercedes will not run the new nose scheduled for the final two days in Bahrain.
