Perez was right on the Ferrari, was dirty air and following too close the reason he went off due to lack downforce while braking?

I thought he took too much left-hand kerb on the entry to 14 - where the left front is practically overloaded anyways. No? He then had to straighten the car to avoid any bad moments.

If it was the way he wanted to fulfill the request from his team, then why not

I think they can do what they need to adjust within minutes if it's allowed with the red flag. Perhaps no major changes, but I also think they can change the setup quite easily without ripping the car's guts.

Ferrari modified the setup in a way times with wet track were better after the RF than before it.
Brundle said Ferrari has very good rain maps for the engine. I'd agree. As for the pace towards the end of the race, our low fuel pace is bad. If the team can update the car & recover some downforce, the F2012 will be quite competitive.

I'd also say also that temperature problems with tyres are normal in wet races. Graining is to be expected. Perhaps harder compound was a better option.

His lack of pace was not normal lack of competitivity.

Great race, once again Webber got shafted on strategy and Vettel got in front of him, thankfully karma came back and bit Vettel on the bum (stupid mistake, not the first time he's assumed another driver could beam himself out of the way!).

Eight top positions in the race were taken by eight different cars. I just love this season! :)

It's a pity, first Sauber took Perez a lap too late and also that he later ran wide. He should have won that race.

Also surprisingly good effort from Senna.

Kimi also shown, he's fast. I wonder, why on the last stint he lost so much time to both Red Bulls and then in the final few laps closed bit of this gap. KERS problems? Tyre's not working properly? Also it looks Lotus was a bit harder on its tyres then other close cars. I remember the moment, when there were three-way battle between Rosberg, Vettel and Raikkonen and then after Vettel's overtake on Rosberg, battle between Rosberg, Raikkonen and Webber. During all that time in the slow corners Kimi was running wider than every other car there and it was looking like he was lacking traction.

I need to watch it again to be sure. I'm just exploring other ideas other than "ZOMG Ferrari's fault"

Buuuuuuut, Vettel ran over his wing. How is that NK's fault? he does that quite often when passing other cars, as I have pointed out before.

What possible reason could Vettel have for cutting in so early?

Your boy made a boo boo WB :)
You can make all kind of arguments about it, but the fact remains that lapped drivers have to get out of the way. Katikeyan did this neither for Button nor for Vettel. It wasn't Vettel's duty to keep clear. He could have been more cautious but it is easy to say this with hindsight. Katikeyan is relatively inexperienced but he has been in F1 for so long that he should know better. I really hope they find a better Indian driver. I'm truely fed up with the guy and think he should get a fat penalty for this race.

Another thing, if Perez was told to hold station, would Peter Sauber have been on the verge of tears with pure pride welling from within? Unlikely, he would be sour and visibly downtrodden/angry.

Exactly this, however the Roswell, Rockerfeller conspiracy theorists will argue differently.
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I'm afraid the appropriate reply to that would be "ZOMG Karthikeyan's fault". Why do lapped drivers not take more heed

Sauber is a smart man. He knows what would happen if Ferrari's no1 driver gets mugged by one of his cars on the track, let alone for a race win.

Ah, I was wondering where I remembered you from. You'd be calling blatant team orders between Schumacher and Barrichello minus the radio proof a conspiracy theory too. So yeah, no surprises there.

@WB

He did leave room, but Vettel thought he was already past. I don't understand how he can just assume that the driver behind is gone. He wasn't. Did Vettel need to push hard, no, he had _zero_ reason to be so pushy/cutty.

You have to avoid backmarkers as much as they have to avoid you.

I hate to say it, but its obvious to me that the Seb colored glasses are on today.

Vettel was going straight - and left a car's width to his left.
