It would be enjoyable to watch Nick and Nico fighting for their first win this year.
Like to see both of them get their first win this year. As for Nico it could be the first of many more, and for Nick it could have the effect it gave Mark Webber and Nigel Mansell, once the tasted victories, it will compell them to the WDC or fighting to the end of the season.

Only one seat left now, Hispania... Who will fill that seat??? Will that seat be a rotating door like last?

Id expect to see alot of Test & Reserve drivers confirmed propperly now. Chandhok to Lotus at Tset & Reserve with Valsecchi and Razia as Development Drivers from the teams GP2 arm Team AirAsia. Many have confirmed, but many more have still to confirm formally.

Eric Boullier wrote:We gave Nick a chance in Jerez last week and he really impressed us. He's quick, experienced and is very strong technically with his feedback and understanding of the car. We always said the priority was to have an experienced driver in the car and we feel he is the ideal man for the job. We are pleased to welcome Nick to the team and look forward to a strong start to the season with him and Vitaly in Bahrain.
I just don't understand why it took them four days to sort this out.

They probably had to break it to Bob that his 'friend' from their BMW Sauber days was taking his place.

If you ever listened to the radios of Heidfeld & Kubica, they both were wanting completely different setups. Nick was always complaining about the front end as it was not turning in, Kubica was complaining about the rear end as it was always sliding. Could help Petrov not crash the car, but it could also make the development of the R31 interesting, but if the R31 is already good enough, i suspect that Heidfeld will make the R31 better as it was Heidfeld that did the majority of the testing on the victorious at Canada F1.08 i believe.

I guess that they had to agree terms. I'm sure Nick's agent wanted to get as much out of the contract as possible, particularly if Boullier was as "impressed" as he said he was.

It is not a simple yes or no question. There are several parameters that would have to be met by each driver in the car, then there is negotiating an agreement between driver and team. I'm surprised that this was all signed and finish only 3 days after testing ended.

What IF Heidfeld wins like 3 GP this year, and posibly misses out on the WDC like Hamilton last year???

Who would Renault put in their seats?? Kubica/Heidfeld/Petrov

This story will be an unfolding one during the season, all dependant on the R31s performance.

They'd surely put Heidfeld and Kubica. But I don't think the R31 is what's made up to be, so can't see Heidfeld winning any races. Their car -compared to the competiton- will be slightly better than last season's at best. Only a few podiums here and there for Nick.

You don't think that the R31 is what's it made up to be? We'll one thing is for sure, I can't remember last time Robert Kubica was on top of the timesheets at testing or practice session, without beeing able to fight for top positions. "Slightly better" might infact be a podium contender from the start! Winning? Heidfeld? Unless they have built the best car on the grid!

I think what Shrieker means with his comment is that the R31 is made out to be a consistent racewinner from the start, and he doesn't feel this is so. I'd agree with that sentiment. Podium regulars? By all means. Regular racewinners? No.

silly as this thread is ..IF Heidfeld is constanly in position to challenge for podiums Robert would have bagged the title in it...can´t you see that speculation is just what it is -a projection of your own wishes not based on facts?

the numbers and reality stack up not unfavourably for Heidfeld .He also jumped into a the cars recently and was instantly in a competitive window. It´s not his fault that Kobayashi is as good as he is we should not forget that Kamui also matched Trulli who is one of the quickest out there.

Yup, we've seen a few people show how hard that is, especially when Ferrari had to replace Massa.

Trulli on autosport.com:

"I strongly believe that Formula 1 changes too often," he said. "My opinion is clear: there should be a discussion with all involved parties for one year, or even two if necessary, and then introduce a set of regulations that may well be revolutionary, but with many years of stability.

"Each change is a cost for the teams, and if the top teams can afford investments in the short term too, for the other teams it's a financial drain. Another thing I want to highlight is that every change is a cost for the big audiences, the ones that watch on Sundays.

"A spectator can't always be chasing the changing regulations, like refuelling, number of pit stops, F-duct and KERS. Can a spectator get passionate about KERS? People at home want to understand, and if we carry on changing the regulations every year we are just creating confusion."

I think it is normal that old people don't like change. How old is Trulli now, 40 or 50. I think he should open a Yoga-club by the sea, where they can do stretching all day, listen to the same music on and on and live a lucky and peaceful life.
