After all Renault is hoping to get some money from Red Bull to buy Lotus (in spite of supplying them with not so great engines which probably broke performance clauses)
With 3 teams Dietrich Mateschitz will have enough clout to change the engine regs
I understand it's a fantasy idea that does not have to make sense but:
- Mateschitz is too busy finding B spec engines for his two current teams and Renault leaving is not helping
- what engine would he use for his third team? C-spec Ferrari? I don't think they have so many old engines lying around
.
- I doubt that without extra money from Ecclestone and being a co-owner which is ruining this sport Red Bull would still be in F1, deep pockets or not it's business.

- It's their money not Red Bull's and they're getting it if they can, no hope involved. Termination of contract works both ways.
- Probably or not. If true - see above about the money.
Going back to real life Lotus, Renault's take over depends on squeezing some money from CVC leeches, they want Merc kind of deal which is still way below Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull. I thought it was 60-40 they stay now it's a bit lower.
