The key is definitely going to be around tire wear, a three stop seems to be the best strategy with three super soft stints, and a final stint on softs. However the probability of a safety car is pretty large around here, so we could definitely see some people finish out of position especially between the two and three stoppers.

As far as pace goes, Mercedes are not usually beaten on Friday, I think this is the first time this season where they haven't been comfortably ahead. I'm sure they have more in the bag, but so does everyone else, as team usually find another second or so with an optimized package.

Indeed, but as I said, Mercedes usually find more time than the other teams. It was very tight last year and this year will be no different.

The interesting part to me is that Raikkonen was setting laps comparable to the super soft runners on the prime tire. Maybe a repeat of Bahrain.

My general take of Ferrari is they usually do a first and second stint run, so Kimi was probably on less fuel.

Every race, first stint is on the softer tire and lap times come down when switching to the harder compound because they are on lower fuel. Mercedes seem to do high fuel on both cars by the looks of the times and work from a worst case scenario situation.

Raikkonen already did 7 laps on super soft and the outlap on softs before though, so by that point he already had burned fuel worth ~0,4s a lap. And he was still ~4 tenths slower than Kvyat (who set his fastest lap on softs on lap 10).

So if that was a low fuel run by Ferrari, they will be nowhere in the race.

On board video of Kvyat's quickest lap from FP2:
(disappointing quality though, even "HD" doesn't look good, what are they doing at F1.com!?)

To me he seems very cautious on the throttle. The car seems to have good front-end though, hitting most apexes.

They are certainly running full B spec Mercedes engine . Red Bull must be already protesting such practices with Ecclestone, or not since it's not about them and they created this system. Why wouldn't they run their B spec car?

Two more hours of illusion of competitiveness, if it's close fine by me but I doubt it, at least there may be a Ferrari - RB fight.

Rubbish. A few PSI isn't responsible for that pace difference and degradation. It's simply because we're at Singapore, a track where cornering speed matters and top speeds don't so much. Their engine advantage is negated here.

Secondly Mercedes were never let off, they never broke the rules. Have a little read of the final report.
 , no it is most certainly a case of the 10+ traction zones here limiting them. Your engine doesn't give you higher degradation than your rivals.

They have to be running much heavier then everyone else. I can´t imagine Mercedes having lost that much raw pace that fast.

mercedes aint sandbagging they're just struggling with the tyres on an unusual track, conditions will be different in qualifying but ferrari and red bull will be fighting for pole.

Do you guys think it's the minimum pressures that slow down Merc?

Probably pressures and camber, ridicleous levels set by Pirelli. Maybe Ferrari knew it would hurt Merc more and pushed their Italien friends for it.
