China 2006 & Ferrari engine issue

You know what has been a simple twist of fate, or more correctly perhaps, a change of heart, has been the fans hearts toward Michael Schumacher. I feel I have noticed a more and more support on Michael's side and les and less bashing here and around on other fourms and media. I am not a MS fan perse, however, the last few races he has been able to insipre me to cheer for him over the current World Champoin Fernando Alonso.

Granted Fernando has helped me root for Schumacher because of his antics, Schumacher has also had his moments this season (Rascases and passing off the track). Despite all of this, I am not ashamed to say that this season, since my hero driver is out of contention (Kimi Raikkonen), I can root for at least 1 more driver, and why not the best?

I never thought I would cheer on Ferrari, but as I began to believe more and more that Kimi was going to Ferrari, I grew more and more infatuated by the thought of Raikkonen in a relaible car and my heart not beibg shattered at every mechanical failure.

So has anybody else had a change of heart? In these last 2 races to go, has anyone put Schumacher's less bright moments and record book (that book which is penned by Michael Schumacer himself) behind and cheered for the scarlet team and thier star driver? Quite possibly, someday those who wirte about him will classify this very season as the man's best. And who doesn't like a champion who goes out on top? Go Schumacher (oh and Kimi too)!!

Hehe, probably not around here. Take a good look around and you'll see some good 'ole Ferrari/Schumacher hating going on. Admittedly it's not nearly as bad as other forums because the good people here are mostly logical in their thinking rather than purely emotional.

Its these kinds of followers that in my opionion make the true followers more stale in other peoples minds, as they hear your a ferrari fan and think that your just another bandwagon person.

But all abord in any case, and off to VICTORY.....

It's nice to try to defend Sato, he does have some good points. But when I was learning my online racing skills, you never suddenly change lines when being lapped, especially when you are already off the racing line.
Post race when Micheal was alluding to the fact he backed the revs down and just coasted the last 15 laps, in all honesty I think that was all mindgames. Only his engineers know the real truth. But anyone who watched the last 20 laps know that Alonso was definitely quicker than the Ferrari in dry conditions. Personally, I believe Shu was just feeding a line of bullcrap into Alonso's face in an attempt to gain mental superiority in mind games.

Did anybody notice the speed of STR they were really going at it there for a while.. in like 9th and 10th.. I was amazed by that...

Also.. I think the FIA has listened to the fans.. because they are showing alot more Team Radio and alot more graphics during the races... I love listening to the team chat box..

I never consider myself a Ferrari hater. I also am not committed to any one driver or team. I just love good racing, and to be honest, entertainment. I dislike dumb and selfish driving (Sato), but absolutely adore the young talent when they shine. Kubica, Massa, Heidfeld, and don't forget Alonso, still too young to grow a decent beard.
Let's face it, Shu drove a magnificent race. No one picked him to win in such conditions. But he kept his cool, made all the right decisions, and took advantage when his competitors stumbled. This should go down as one of his better wins, he deserved it.
Isn't it nice to have a race like Hungary, or China, or Turkey, where there is trading for positions, tough pit strategy, and something else than the boring old procession of sterile lap after lap, interrupted by the occasional strategy of pit stops?

Hehe, probably not around here. Take a good look around and you'll see some good 'ole Ferrari/Schumacher hating going on. Admittedly it's not nearly as bad as other forums because the good people here are mostly logical in their thinking rather than purely emotional.

And thank God for that. Some sites just go way over in the hating and base it on rumours and even false "facts", not to mention the normal "it's so because I said so".

I hate the fact that it seems FIA is favouring them and no one can argue that fact. We can argue whether it's happening for real or does it just seem so and I really enjoy some comments from both sides on that matter. Couldn't care less about the "he won x champs, so he must be good and pure". Facts rule. Keep 'em coming.


Oh and the race was good too. More interesting and eventful that the 10 most boring races this season combined. Shame for the result though, I wish Kimi didn't have that issue.

If Schumacher took two more wins of that quality - I would give him a respectful nod (so to speak) and consider it a well won retirement present. Even with the dodgy decision making; from a drivers point of view you would have to call it a "Champions Season" (Fernando too).

I am so happy that i didn't see this race because i am sure that i killed myself when i 've seen 20 sec between Schu and Alo before first pitstop.......

I was upset and didn't eat anything after qualification in China...

I always belive that M. SCHU can create HUGE miracle in race...
But now i can't realize that it's true and now MS first in China race......

Maybe i am crazy ....


P.S. Does anybody know the place in interner where it is possible to see how MS pass Fisi after second pitstop?

I don't recall ever having any special feelings about Ferrari. Not in racing, nor road cars. Don't get me wrong, of course I'd rather drive a Ferrari than a Punto or whatever, but luckily I don't have to drive either. Sure they make nice road cars, but so do so many. Ferrari is just another brand for some. If I could pick any car to drive, it wouldn't be a Ferrari.

Never had a favourite Ferrari driver either. Sure I've liked and disliked some drivers that have driven a Ferrari during his career, but that's because of him, not because he drove a Ferrari. Might as well say about every team, everyone has a favourite Renault driver and everyone had a favourite Minardi driver.

Of course Alonso was unhappy and disapointed. He drove a great race, and should have won based on merit and pace. But his team let him down with poor decisions.

I believe that's called snatching defeat from the jaws of victory Dave.

I admit Michael is driving well and is winning some respect from me, although I would never be a fan and I don't want him to win the champ, I don't think he deserves it after a few of his descisions this year, and Alonso has been stunning in more races than him. I have always liked Ferrari for their heritage though, and I hope they do well with Kimi, although i don't know how well he will stand up to the media pressure, he always seems so shy.
