How on earth does Hamilton manage to be 0.3 slower than Leclerc in the first sector while having the same top speed (310)???

Btw...best day of testing!! Only qualifying laps!
You got his sector 3 time that Sky is wetting themselves over?

Almost sounds as a sound effect. Does F1 add sound effects to the start of their clips?

Good one about the spin doctor, made me chuckle.

Verstappen caught a wet kerb; This spin by Albon might well be the Wind picking up, and other cars had wobbles and spins. Not sure there is any big issue here, apart from them losing testing time.
Verstappen didn't have one spin, he had at least 3 or 4. One of those was mid corner without obvious cause.

Albon today had a similar spin.

It may be just the wind, but most teams are not spinning like that. I guess they may be just driving a bit more on the edge or their car is sensitive to wind or gearbox/engine is causing the lockups. Did Alpha Tauri have any strange spins?
Yeah they just seem to be spinning quite a lot more than other teams. It could be bad luck, it could be because they run a rear wing with less elevation than the Netherlands, but the more they spin, the more something else seems to be up.

I am not suggesting there is not an issue, but I also don't think we need to think Red Bull have a big problem either. Might they still be, like last year, starting the season with a car that's too low df at the rear, could be.

Yes it seems that they have a smaller rear wing than others.
But the car has potential, so let's see if they can figure it out with balance settings or a bigger rear wing

Mercedes are having quite a lacklustre time on the C5 tyre in Hamilton's hands, Bottas seems to have them sorted around this circuit though.

They always seemed to struggle on the really soft compounds.Plus conditions are really not representative of what they will race with.

I would go for the engine not running high, given his s1 time (aren't the speedtraps just fastest trap times, rather than for every lap?) in those laps. Maybe caution with the oil leak stuff and them wanting it to last the afternoon?

Hamilton's telemetry magically dropped out just as he was about to do his fastest lap on C5. Exactly the same thing happened with bottas last week on his 1.15.7 lap. Back then I laughed it off, but now this is starting to be pattern.

I hope he applies that to race rubber coz his stints looked half a second slower than his teammates. I feel this is the year where it's just Valterri Vs Lewis.

Didn't he reach the same speeds of the Ferrari in S1? If so you would have expected him to blitz their laptime instead he ends up slower.

Maybe a trend like last season here, Bottas blitzing him in qualifying but likely slower on race pace

I feel a bit confused as to why even Hamilton himself hasn't manage to even come close to Bottas's 1.15.7! More amazingly this time was set just on the 2nd day of testing...with a new car and no setup work...as many teams say that on the last day of testing they do their setup work for fast laps!

Has that to do with Bottas being so good around here maybe?? Because even in Qualifying 2019 he was way ahead of Hamilton again...0.6 ahead!

Bottas Version 3 coming up guys!!

Btw...was Perez's run (1.16.6) truly on the Yellow C3 tires??
Because Sainz did 1.16.8 both on the C3 and C4s and i was like...wow that looks good for Mclaren! But then i saw that...
