Why on god’s earth is it difficult for Ferrari to end up second best in WCC?AmateurDriver wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:23Very underwhelming indeed. Let's hope they'll end up second best in WCC (difficult). And let's acknowledge Vasseur's intellectual honesty nevertheless. He's not saying we're playing catch up, we're just one tenth behind, in the second half of the season blah blah... He's already saying "no way" even before traditional turning point of Barcelona.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:03The article is well put and comprehensive, but hopefully the hopium thins down. Vasseur was clear - there can't be big steps in car development any more. Red Bull are well in the lead and Imola will be more like Japan and China most likely, since they too will bring a set of updates
The interesting bit will be seeing what kind of change will they make on the rear wing

Did they really? How good was Piastri without new floor and bodywork? Usually he's quite clearly slower than Norris over a race, but not this time
Apparently, Scuderia Ferrari does not care about F1 at all. Wonder how they got to sign 7-time-champ with that kind of attitude
Last time I checked there was a misterious orange car quite out of the reach of ours.LM10 wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:41Why on god’s earth is it difficult for Ferrari to end up second best in WCC?AmateurDriver wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:23Very underwhelming indeed. Marketing. Luxury companies like Ferrari all take a lot of care in selecting most appealing testimonials.Vanja #66 wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:43Refresh your memory

I don't have enough time to find the post, but in a different post you said Red Bull would have an easy win in Miami. I remember it because I was annoyed by it.
In one you say Imola will be like Japan and China. In the other you say Ferrari will get close in Imola.
Long overdue... Hopefully the new Chief Engineer for Leclerc will do a better job
I stand corrected. I didn’t pay much attention to it while watching. Norris managed to decrease the gap to Sainz by about 4 tenths per lap on average. Though, I think that Sainz might have stressed his tires more being within DRS range of Leclerc for several laps and pushing.AR3-GP wrote: ↑06 May 2024, 00:32Not being able to overtake is a different matter. It's because of the circuit. I'm talking about Norris's pace in free air compared to everyone else in free air and that's what the teams care about too.LM10 wrote: ↑06 May 2024, 00:26Norris didn't manage to overtake Perez on track and after Perez went into pits he was not really closing the gap to Sainz. It was only after the SC on new hards when he was clearly faster than the rest, but he could have not gotten any more lucky pitting for new hards and restarting from P1. The tires hate to be put through a second heat cycle after cooling down which happened to everyone's tires behind Norris.AR3-GP wrote: ↑06 May 2024, 00:03
I don't get your point. Mclaren was in another world. The both of us have to accept this. The performance of Red Bull and Ferrari wasn't good enough here. That was going to be 20 seconds minimum beating if Norris started on pole. At least Ferrari have a major upgrade package to look forward to.
And by the way, Norris was eating Sainz alive after Perez pitted. I'm not sure what data you found. Norris was taking 3-4 tenths a lap from lap 19-26 when Sainz pitted, and then still going faster than Sainz,Leclerc, Verstappen by 1-2 tenths when those guys put on new hard tires. No one was talking about it in the race thread before the safety car. Only I made a post when I saw the laptimes:

Probably for the same reason, the money that was freed up after the budget cap in F1, Ferrari put it into VEC instead of luxury cars.AmateurDriver wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:53Marketing. Luxury companies like Ferrari all take a lot of care in selecting most appealing testimonials.
Let me just say I'd bloody love to be proven wrong and way too pessimistic.yooogurt wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:57Probably for the same reason, the money that was freed up after the budget cap in F1, Ferrari put it into VEC instead of luxury cars.AmateurDriver wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 18:53Marketing. On top of that, Charles' tires had his third warm up in a stint (which were hard to do on the SF24) and Lando's was his first.
