Organisers want Belgian GP in May or June
The Belgian Grand Prix wants to move their date on the calendar from September to May or June as they believe that more people would visit the race at the historic Spa-Francorchamps when it comes earlier on the year. This season, the Grand Prix made a loss of €3.3 million.
André Maes, organiser of the Belgian Grand Prix, said: "Early September is the worst possible date to be on the calendar. Not only because of the bad weather, but also because the summer holiday is just over and everybody has to go back to work or school."
This means that the GP of Belgium wants to move back to its historic date in May or June. According to rumours, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone considers moving Francorchamps to an earlier date on the calendar. One of the possibilities is that the Belgian race would be scheduled at the end of June on the date of the French GP at Magny-Cours.
