Bourdais mourns passing of his former team boss
American movie legend and motor racing entrepreneur Paul Newman passed away yesterday at the age of 83, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Newman was co-owner of the Newmn/Haas/Lanigan Racing Team and raced himself throughout the 70's and 80's. Sebastien Bourdais, who is the most successful driver in the history of the team, paid tribute to his former team boss.
Bourdais said to our colleagues at 'autosport': "He was just a great character. Paul discovered racing when he was 45 years old and discovered that he was pretty damned good at it.
"We had so much success together and some great years. That's what I remember most - sharing so many great moments with him.
"We had known for quite a while that there was no way out and he was not going to survive the cancer. He was in a lot of pain, and he's in a much better place now."
