Renault wants Constructors' title
Renault's attempt to clinch a World Championship double will be boosted by a revised car in this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix. The Team may have won the Drivers' Championship but they will not rest on their laurels in Japan and China, when they hope to win the Constructors' Championship.
The McLaren Mercedes team has a two-point lead in the standings with a one-two in Brazil but Renault promised more improvements on the car, including a major revision of their engine for the season finale in Shanghai.
Bob Bell, Technical Director "We have got a suspension update in Japan, and some new aerodynamic parts - we are transferring things we find during the development of the car where possible. Of course, the main update to come is the E-spec engine in China, which should be a good step forward."
Renault's constant effort to produce a faster car were given added impetus by Fernando Alonso's World title win. The Spaniard visited the team's Enstone factory to offer a personal thank you to the staff.
Bell "It meant a huge amount to people. He came in earlier this year after the win in France, and that was really appreciated. It really is special for the people who don't get to travel to the races, and there was a fantastic atmosphere on Tuesday."
Bell warned that any slip-up in the final two races is likely to cost them the Constructors' Championship.
"The reality is that the team which drops a race finish from either car in the last two races will probably lose the title. So we cannot afford to forget any of our attention to detail, or compromise our reliability in an attempt to be more aggressive on performance. But we will certainly push harder than we have in recent races."
