I hope I can pick up some important points - Kubica

Second place at the Japanese Grand Prix in Fuji means that Robert Kubica is now one of just three drivers still with a chance of winning the World Championship. That is more than enough motivation for the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver to put in a really strong performance at the "Shanghai International Circuit".

"I haven't had much luck at this circuit so far. I hope that changes this time and I can pick up some important points for the World Championship," says Robert Kubica ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. The Pole started from ninth on the grid in both his previous appearances in Shanghai. In 2006 he finished 13th, while he failed to finish last year's race. Despite this, Robert likes the circuit and is hoping for a change of fortune in 2008.

"Shanghai is an interesting circuit with a very long straight and a good overtaking opportunity," says the 23-year-old. "The track offers a mixture of very different corners; there are some slow areas but also several fast sections. The first corner is particularly challenging. You stay on the brakes for a long time, and then it quickly switches into a left-hander."
