Consistency is key to succes for BMW Sauber
Consistency is one of the secrets of the BMW Sauber F1 Team's success. At least one driver from the team from Munich and Hinwil has finished in the top eight at the last 34 Grands Prix in a row. No other Formula One team can currently boast such an impressive record.
This incredible run of success started on 18th March 2007, when Nick Heidfeld finished fourth at the first race of the 2007 season in Australia. The team has not left a race without at least one point since then. At least one of the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers has finished in the points at every Grand Prix that season. Robert Kubica and Nick have continued this series in the 2008 season.
To date, the team from Munich and Hinwil has picked up points on 34 race weekends in a row. Not only is this the longest run of success in the history of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, but it is also the longest current sequence in Formula One. In the 58-year history of Formula One only one team has finished in the points more times in succession. Between 1999 and 2003 Ferrari put together a run of 55 Grands Prix, while the 2008 Italian Grand Prix brought to an end a sequence of 46 top-eight finishes for the Italian team.
The next opportunity for Nick and Robert to improve their record comes in Brazil. The BMW Sauber F1 Team will compete in the final race of the 2008 season at Interlagos on 2nd November.
