Winning races in 2010 possible, according to Mallya
With the Force India Formula One team beginning a new chapter with the Mclaren-Mercedes F1 team, the Indian squad is hoping to progress well into points-scoring territory within the current grid in 2009, with hopes of race wins the following year. The partnership with the famous Woking based team will provide them with the entire powertrain and drivetrain systems, along with the KERS system which is to make it's introduction into F1 the upcoming season.
"Other teams are also developing and improving and of course in 2009 it's virtually a brand new car and a brand new design," team owner Vijay Mallya was quoted as saying by 'autosport' during an event at their factory on Monday morning.
"At least from my perspective, winning races I think I can certainly aspire for maybe in 2010, but for 2009 I would be happy if we are regularly in the points. That would be already a major step forward," added the excentric billionaire.
