Toyota and Williams diffusers get the green light
Not long after the introduction of the 2009 cars, the legality of the diffusers on the Williams FW31 and the Toyota TF109 was questioned by several rival teams. One week later however, the design got the green light from the FIA.
Max Mosley declared to 'autosport': "It will always happen when you've got new regulations. The FIA's current view is that Williams and Toyota have been clever and exploited the wording of the rules in a clever way. But someone may challenge it and the stewards may take a different view. The view of our technical people is that it's okay, although we'll wait and see if someone challenges it."
