Encouraging first test for RB5

The RB5's first test session came to an end this afternoon, after its shakedown debut on Monday followed by four days of running alongside the other teams working here at the Spanish track of Jerez de la Frontera.

Mark Webber took over driving duties from Sebastian Vettel today and once again showed that his injured leg is making a good recovery. Track time was limited in the morning due to an elusive mechanical problem but, once running resumed around lunchtime, Mark embarked on a long-run tyre comparison, while also evaluating set-up and suspension changes.

"Apart from a few minor niggles, which are to be expected with a brand new car, this first test has produced pleasing results," commented Head of Race Engineering, Ian Morgan. "RB5 proved to be generally reliable and its performance seems encouraging straight out of the box."
