Crisis gives us opportunity to prove what a strong team we are - Sauber
The BMW Sauber F1 Team suffered a disappointing Monaco Grand Prix: while Nick ended the sixth race of the year in eleventh place, Robert had to retire early. Peter Sauber, consultant to the team from Munich and Hinwil, looks back at a difficult weekend on the Côte d'Azur.
"I have had happier days in Monaco," Sauber told the Swiss media. "We have blundered into an uncomfortable situation, and are now in a race against time. However, precisely this kind of crisis gives us the opportunity to prove what a strong team we truly are."
Qualifying already gave a good indication that the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers would have very little chance of picking up any World Championship points. This proved to be the case on the race Sunday. While Nick put this behind him and drove a focussed race, Robert's weekend came to an early end. After his F1.09 developed tyre problems shortly after the start, the Pole eventually had to retire on lap 30.
