My race was decided in qualifying - Nelsinho
Nelson Piquet Jr., the Brazilian Renault F1 Team driver, drove well in Turkey, but the problems in Saturday's qualifying session made for a difficult race at Istanbul Park and he missed out on points.
"Because of my problem with the brakes in qualifying, I started well down the grid. We then chose a strategy which unfortunately didn't work: a very long first stint on hard tyres, a second stint of 17 laps on hard tyres, and then a short final stint on the soft tyres. In the end I finished 16th and missed out on points, which is a shame."
Were there any positives?"The car was quite fast and well balanced and I didn't have any problems in the race. I also had some good battles and I particularly enjoyed the move I made to overtake Hamilton at the end of the straight."
Looking back on the weekend, what's your overall feeling?"Of course I was frustrated. We want to be fighting at the front and scoring points. However, I know that everybody is working extremely hard at the factory to improve the car. We have all given our maximum over the last few months and we are determined to keep up our efforts, which I am sure will pay off."
