Rosberg lines up F1 world title

Williams' new signing Nico Rosberg has backed himself to carry on the team's tradition of winning world titles. The 20-year-old, the son of former Williams world champion Keke, is the latest recruit to the Formula One grid.

Nico Rosberg "Being in F1 is the ultimate goal, but being world champion remains my long-term target, even at this early stage. It's not a goal I think about straight away. First I've got to get myself integrated into the team."

Williams have boasted a host of world champions aside from Rosberg Sr over the years, including Britons Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell.
The team snapped up Rosberg Jr earlier this month to drive alongside Australian Mark Webber next season.

The GP2 champion, who had been vying with Antonio Pizzonia for the seat made vacant by Nick Heidfeld's switch to BMW, is already the youngest person to drive an F1 car after testing for Williams in 2002. Rosberg described his arrival in F1 as "a dream move". And he insisted he had no plans to emulate his father, who won the world title in 1982.
"I don't want to beat my dad, but that doesn't mean I don't want to be world champion. I still want to be world champion in my own right."
