Now more than ever-spirit among BMW Sauber F1 Team
BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen instilled a "now more than ever" spirit among the BMW Sauber F1 Team at the World Championship races in Valencia and Spa-Francorchamps, where the team recently increased their points tally.
The drivers are also highly motivated to end the season with strong performances at the remaining five races. "As long as you can sense that there is still a fighting spirit in the team, that motivates the drivers and vice versa," says Nick Heidfeld. "If the team sees that you are gritting your teeth and trying everything in your power to move forward, there is still a positive atmosphere."
Robert Kubica is particularly motivated on the track by the competitive spirit that drives him to win tight duels against his rivals. When asked which race is the most exciting of his career so far, he names a duel with Lewis Hamilton - however, this came before both drivers set out on their Formula One careers. "The most exciting races came in karting and Formula 3," he says. "I particularly remember he final race of the 2004 season with Lewis in Hockenheim. We were practically side-by-side for two whole laps, and overtook each other several times."
