Fernando knew everything - Piquet Sr.
The mud throwing between the Piquet and Renault-camp just keep on going. Nelson Piquet Sr. claims that Fernando Alonso was fully aware of the race-fix plan of Briatore and Symonds at the Singapore Grand Prix. During the Italian GP weekend at Monza Fernando Alonso denied having any knowledge of a plan to let Nelsinho crash deliberately.
Piquet Sr., who is known for bullying his team-mates when he was racing, said to the Spanish newspaper 'Diario Sport': "Fernando knew everything. He could not ignore it. If you are fifteenth on the grid at a street circuit, there is no point in just hoping for the best; at most, you can pass three cars - it's a senseless strategy."
Alonso was only 15th on the starting grid of the Singapore GP due to an engine problem during qualifying, after which he started the race with a very low fuel load and pitted just when Piquet Jr. crashed out.
