Renault will stay in F1 despite crashgate
The Renault F1 Team has informed the FIA that it will remain in Formula One despite the Singapore crashgate scandal. It was rumoured that the scandal would mean that the constructor would pull-out of F1, but this was denied by the team itself at the WMSC meeting on Monday.
Renault said in a statement at Monday's World Motor Sport Council hearing: "Renault F1 and its parent company have given serious consideration as to whether it should remain in the sport following the prejudice caused to its corporate image by the conspiracy, in addition to the existing background of financial pressures that have caused car manufacturers to withdraw.
"But it has concluded that it would like to remain in Formula 1 and continue to make an important contribution to the sport."
