No running on thin ice for Buemi
While it was anything but warm in Canada, the relatively high temperature meant that the Sébastien Buemi Showcar Run over the frozen lakes in Montreal were cancelled this weekend. The event was scheduled as a celebration for the return of the Candian Grand Prix to the Formula One calendar in 2010.
The organisers, Red Bull Canada, said: "It is disappointing that the Red Bull Frozen One Showcase has been cancelled due to unstable ice conditions created by warm weather patterns. The event was scheduled to take place on Sunday (January 17) on the frozen waters of the Olympic Basin.
“A new date has not been set, but we are looking into the possibility of rescheduling. We would like to thank the residents of Montreal for their enthusiasm and hope to celebrate the return of F1 to Montreal at a later date.”
While the actual run did not take place Séb was able to run the car to get promotional material shot. He also managed to take in an ice hockey game on Saturday evening.
