Ferrari try F-duct as Alonso suffers another engine failure
The Scuderia Ferrari experimented with a rear wing-stalling f-duct system for the very first time during the first free practice session of the Chinese GP weekend. However, the Italian outfit did not get much information after the first run with the system as Alonso had another engine failure after only six laps on the Shanghai track.
Alonso suffered an engine failure at the previous race in Malaysia, 2 laps before the end of the race. While that was his third engine he used this season, the second one was precoutiously replaced on Friday in Malaysia.
The first one, used by Alonso at Bahrain, was found to be good enough to use this weekend, but apparently only lasted another 6 laps before going up in smoke.
