Schumacher apologises to Barrichello
Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher has apologised himself to former team mate Rubens Barrichello for the incident during the Hungarian Grand Prix yesterday. During the interviews after the race, Schumacher and Barrichello disagreed on the manoeuvre, but on Monday, the German issued the following statement on his website:
Schumacher: “Yesterday, right after the race, I was still in the heat of the action, but now I’ve watched the moment with Rubens again I must say that the stewards are right with their assessment.
“The manoeuvre against him was too hard. I certainly wanted to make it hard for him to pass and I also clearly showed him that I did not want to give up the inside line, but I didn’t wish to put him in any danger with my manoeuvre.
“If he feels that I did, then I’m sorry because that was not my intention.”
Critics say Schumacher always had his tricks up his sleeve, and with the disappointing results in recent weeks, this seems like a very desperate move from a man who became World Champion seven times. The comeback of the German hero seems more and more unnecessary as he has become the fallen star of F1.
