Two-seater experience up for auction to help flood victims in Australia
After a charity game from the World's biggest tennis stars, the organisers of the Australian Grand Prix have presented their own way to raise money for the people affected by the recent floods in Queensland, Australia: an auction for a hot lap around Melbourne Park in a two-seater.
The auction began yesterday continues until January 28 when the winning bidder will be announced. The one-lap ride will take place during Formula 1’s visit to the venue in March.
"To experience the power of a two-seater Formula One car, hitting speeds of 300 kilometres per hour is normally a money-can’t-buy opportunity," said acting CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Andrew Westacott. "By auctioning this amazing experience we hope to raise a significant amount to support Queenslanders."
Alan Jones, former Australian F1 World Champion added: "This is a fantastic initiative and hopefully motorsport fans show their support in contributing to such a crucial cause."
