The organisers of the Bavaria city racing event at Rotterdam yesterday were happy to see a record crowd coming to the heart of the Dutch city. It was the first time that Mercedes GP and Ferrari were present, raising interest amongst motorsport fans.

In between the Formula One teams, there were drift series, kids karts and several electric cars showing off in front of the public. Amongst them Tom Coronel who will be the first ever to compete in the Dakar Rally with a fully electric buggy.

Formulec was also present with their EF01, an open wheel racing car, entirely driven by electric power. At Rotterdam, the car was driven by Alex Prémat.

Meanwhile in the paddock, Mercedes GP, planned to run two times during the afternoon, suffered an oil leak on the repainted Brawn GP BGP001 and were hard at work changing the gearbox with a spare one.

Ferrari did run twice in the afternoon, but there were problems there as well, with Marc Gene slightly damaging the Ferrari F10. The second run was then carried out with the Ferrari F60.

At the end of the day, the organisation announced it saw approximately 600,000 people come to the event. It was also happy to present its new event next year, as on 3 June 2012 the event will also be held in Dublin.
