60.000 fans for Red Bull parade

More than 60,000 F1 fans lined the streets of Red Bull Racing's home town to see World Champion Sebastian Vettel, team-mate Mark Webber, David Coulthard, Christian Horner and Adrian Newey say thank you to our local support.

The world champions had not one but two Red Bull Racing cars scream up and down Midsummer Boulevard, and the F1 racers were joined by David Coulthard in our Nascar Showcar and stunt supremo Chris Pfeiffer provided the madcap, two-wheel entertainment.

The intention had been for Red Bull Racing to say thank you to not only the Factory staff, but also our local supporters.

Sebastian Vettel said: “Thanks to all the fans who came today, we wanted to put on a great show, so I hope they enjoyed it. It’s a great way to finish the season.” And Mark Webber similarly was pleased to be able to put on a show in a town close to his own base. He said: “I live locally too, so it was nice to give something back to the community. I know some of the roundabouts on the course from driving my road car, so it was something different to drive them in an F1 car! It was a nice atmosphere, the sun was shining and it was good for everyone to get close to the cars. It’s a great thing that Red Bull has done to say thank you to the fans.”

The show was shown over giant screens to the crowds and compered by David Coulthard's partner from the UK's BBC commentary team Jake Humphrey – the pair interviewing the drivers, the team management and of course the fans who crowded around the F1 garages.

Spectators were give Vettel fingers and Webber kangaroos to cheer on their favourite and, despite the biting cold, enjoyed the whole afternoon's entertainment.

The Home Run was a joint event between the team and Milton Keynes Council who ensured the streets were cleared – not an easy task at this time of year. As Christian Horner acknowledged. Our team principal said: “To run an F1 car through the middle of Milton Keynes was fantastic. It’s flattering to have so many people turn out to celebrate what we have achieved. Without the fans, there’s no Formula One and no Red Bull, so it’s good to give something back and celebrate like this.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Milton Keynes Council for what they have done for us. Closing the middle of the city on one if their busiest shopping days is highly appreciated, so a huge thank you to them for all their efforts.”
