The Midland F1 Racing Team started testing today at the circuit of Jerez, Spain, after launching their new M16 on Friday at Silverstone. Both Christijan Albers and Tiago Monteiro were on track today.

Driver: Tiago Monteiro
Chassis: EJ15B-03
Engine: Toyota Fastest Lap: 1.22.30
Number of Laps: 71
Distance: 314km

The EJ15B Interim chassis continued to put mileage on 2006 components, work on software development, some aerodynamic testing and some set-up development.

Tiago Monteiro "Today was a good day, we completed a lot of laps and found out a number of interesting things that will all help us this season. I've been driving the 2005 Chassis and will again tomorrow morning; much of the work we are doing is for development of the new car. There were no problems and I am very happy."

Driver: Christijan Albers
Chassis: M16-02
Engine: Toyota Fastest Lap: 1.21.55
Number of Laps: 75
Distance: 332km

This was a positive first day for the new M16 chassis. We ran through a number of routine 'new car' systems checks and began familiarising ourselves with the set-up
options available. We have generated a lot of data to go through over the next few days.

Christijan Albers "Today we were working on different set-ups, the guys are working very hard and it's a good chance to test a variety of areas on the car including electronics. I was happy with today's run and the new car is giving me confidence, which is great for the first day of testing."
