McLaren duo ends Italian Friday on top
F1 Grand Prix, GP Italy, Autodromo Nazionale di Monza
During the second free practice session of the Italian Grand Prix weekend at Monza, the McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were on top of the timesheets. The duo was faster than Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.
Alonso however hit trouble with his Ferrari as he first went wide through the first corner due to a brake problem. Back on track, problems got even worse as he was stuck in second gear throughout the entire lap, with Ferrari eventually confirming a gearbox failure that could lead to a 5-place grid penalty.
Already in FP1, the Spaniard stopped at Rettifilo with an old engine, a similar problem as to what happened to Felipe Massa at Spa during FP1.
