McLaren strenghten technical team
Teams returned to the test track yesterday, but that’s not the only way in which preparations for the 2004 season got underway, with McLaren finally confirming the appointment of Nicholas Tombazis as Chief Engineer Aerodynamic Development at the Woking based squad.
This move further supplements the already strong design team led by Technical Director Adrian Newey. Nicholas, who was formerly the Chief Aerodynamicist at Ferrari, will join in April 2004 working alongside Peter Prodromou, who remains as Head of Aerodynamics also reporting to Adrian Newey.
“We are pleased to take this opportunity to announce the continued strengthening of our technical team, with the appointment of Nicholas Tombazis as Chief Engineer Aerodynamic Development,” said Martin Whitmarsh. “We believe this latest addition to the team will help to ensure we maintain the positive development impetus of the past year both in the build-up to and during the coming season. We are now looking forward to seeing how the MP4-19 performs over the coming weeks.”
