Maldonado given 10-place grid penalty
Pastor Maldonado has been handed a 10 place grid penalty after incurring a reprimand by the stewards for the Brazilian GP. Given that this is the third reprimand for the Williams driver, this is immediately converted to a grid penalty.
The Stewards, having received a report from the Technical Delegate, have given the reprimand because the driver did not stop for a weighing at 14:35, which is during the second part of qualifying.
The report notes "The driver failed to proceed directly to the FIA garage when signalled to do so". A penalty of a Reprimand is imposed. This is the third Reprimand of this season, which will result in a ten grid place penalty (as per Article 18.2 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations).
This means that Maldonado will start tomorrow's Brazilian GP from 16th on the grid, and that everybody from 7th to 16th will move up a place, including Fernando Alonso, who will be able to start from 7th instead of 8th.
