Rosberg leads Red Bull in dry second practice
Nico Rosberg was ahead in almost the entire second free practice session and also ended on top of the timesheets. On a drying track, he was 2 tenths faster than Sebastian Vettel and another 2 tenths to Mark Webber.
With the second practice session dry at the kick off, many cars are out early, trying to catch up some of time that was lost in the very wet conditions that greeted the teams in the first practice session earlier today. With the prototype tyres from Canada again available here on Friday, many drivers opt to go out on these early on in the session to give them a run.
20 minutes later, Felipe Massa finds himself in the tyre wall again as he lost control of his car. Once more, he went head on into the tyre wall, crushing the nose and front wing while also bending the right front suspension. The Brazilian is unfortunately making a habit of this, as he already crashed twice in Monaco and then again during the race at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Halfway into the session, most drivers have switched to the race tyres, either running the hard of the medium Pirelli tyres. As the track is still improving thanks to the running, times are tumbling throughout as well. After 50 minutes, Rosberg tops the timesheet, ahead of Vettel and Hamilton.
The times improved further, and with no other serious incidents, Rosberg easily stayed ahead. Mark Webber managed to improve in the last part of the session into third. Toro Rosso continued to perform strongly with the 6th and 7th best times while Force India also was among the top 10 runners.
