Renault and Honda making best impression
Both Honda Racing F1 Team and Mild Seven Renault F1 Team are very confident after wrapping up their final week of testing before the approaching first Grand Prix of the season in Bahrain next weekend.
Honda's third driver, Anthony Davidson, set an unofficial lap record yesterday (thursday) at Valencia. Davidson feels really confident about the car and said: "It has been generally fast and well balanced all week. We're all looking forward to Bahrain now, I think we'll be strong there."
The Honda Racing F1 Team have completed 27.000 kilometres of testing since the end of November, with 14.700 kilometres with the new RA106 who debuted on January 25th.
Not only Honda is looking confident towards Bahrain, also World Champions Renault and Fernando Alonso can't wait to pack up their gear and fly to Bahrain.
Bob Bell, Renault's Technical Director "Our strong performance in winter testing has given everybody a genuine boost in motivation. It has been an intensive winter of preparation and we sincerely believe we have a strong chance of successfully defending our championships."
The R26 run nearly 14,000 kilometres during testing. Renault's test driver Heikki Kovalainen is very satisfied with the new car and said: "Our engine is reliable and Michelin tyres performed well this winter so I think we have a real chance for the first race. We all will be very disappointed if we are not fighting for the win in Bahrain."
Both Honda and Renault made the best impression on the testtracks during winter testing, we'll just have to wait and see if it also results in a victory in Bahrain.
