Ferrari moving and heavily investing
Ferrari are not just moving slowly in the right direction to get back to the top, but they are also busy with move inside the barriers of Ferrari’s Maranello-based territory.
Ferrari’s facilities are located in different buildings on a large territory. Even their Formula 1 division has been separated into different houses. Former team chef Stefano Domenicali commissioned the building of a state-of-art facility to house the whole F1 department under one roof.
Ferrari’s former buildings date back to 1947.
The move has already begun, but it will still take some time to fully complete it. Ferrari are desperate to make the move without any consequences and distraction from their F1 activities as they want to reduce the gap to their arch rival Mercedes.
Team principal Maurizio Arrivabene confirmed that the move is not perfect for the current car development, but it has long-term benefits as the entire team can work more closely together and the new facility is technically sophisticated.
"It is certainly not ideal, but what can we do?" he said. "It will be three or four months before we have every engineer over there."
It is not just about having a beautiful building, but it can also boost Ferrari’s efforts with the brand-new simulator and engine testing facilities.
The new factory is 25,000 square metres in size, accommodating 700 people and including a new simulator and EUR 40 million hybrid engine test bed.
Team manager Massimo Rivola confirmed: "I have already moved my office."
