Ferrari does not expect miracles

Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene admitted that his team expects a tough home Grand Prix in Monza as Mercedes still holds a significant power advantage.

Ferrari managed to turn over its fortune after last year's engine stuggles and heavily upgraded its power unit into the second year of the all-new turbo hyrid era. However, the field-leading Mercedes has emerged to be dominant on power tracks like Canada, Austria and Belgium.

The fabled Italian squad intends to spend some tokens on new development parts at next weekend's Italian GP. Team boss Arrivabene disclosed that Tifosi cannot expect a complete turnaround in terms of the competitive order.

"So it is not worth talking about a super power unit, only an engine, " said the Italian.

"The characteristics of Monza are similar to those of Spa. So they are less well suited to our car."

Ferrari is going to use its last engine in both driver's cars. The boss expects the team to show full commitment, but he is also prepared to play a secondary role on home soil.

"For that I'm sorry because it is the Italian Grand Prix, but I want to be realistic. I'm not going to delude the fans, so I prefer to say it like it is," concluded Arrivabene.
