Hamilton on top as Friday running ends at Monza
Lewis Hamilton continued to be fastest in the second free practice session of the Italian Grand Prix weekend, having already topped the first session earlier today. Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg was a close second, ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari.
As Ferrari managed to reduce the deficit they faced during FP1, so did Sahara Force India, with both drivers continuing to be faster than Kimi Raikkonen in 6th.
Next up are both Lotus drivers, confirming the team's expectations and attempting to forget the financial and contractual issues that surround the Enstone based team. Both Grosjean and Maldonado proved fastest than Williams, yet another Mercedes powered team.
While Mercedes' engine dominance is obvious around Autodromo di Monza, McLaren continued to struggle, despite their choice for a very low downforce setup. While Alonso did less laps than average, Jenson Button didn't get more than 3, thanks to more technical issues on the Honda power unit.
Still, he was faster than Kvyat, who completes the standings in last position having also faced technical issues with his car. Meanwhile, Red Bull is amassing engine penalties , so no matter what their performances will be on Saturday in qualifying, both men face starts from the back of the pack, similarly to McLaren Honda's situation at the Belgian GP.
