Ferrari leads Mercedes in final practice at Bahrain
Ferrari have upped their game on Saturday at Bahrain, as both Vettel and Raikkonen were found at the top of the timesheet at the final practice session ahead of qualifying later today. The two Italian cars were closely matched and roughly 4 tenths quicker than the Mercedes pair.
With FP3 usually a tryout session for qualifying runs, Ferrari does look in better shape for qualifying that it had in quite a long time.
Behind the Mercedes duo in third and fourth, Valtteri Bottas was fastest in the Williams, similarly upping his game from yesterday. Romain Grosjean on the other hand was sixth fastest and again looked very handy in the Haas. The rookie team's performance was underlined by Gutierrez who went 8th fastest.
In between them is Kvyat in the Red Bull, with Massa in 9th and Ricciardo in 10th, making Williams, Red Bull and Haas probably midfield competitors this weeked.
Next up is a group with Renault, Sauber, McLaren, Force India and Toro Rosso. McLaren's drivers were very closely matched this session, marking a solid improvement for Stoffel Vandoorne who found himself a longer way behind his team mate on his first day in the MP4-31. While Toro Rosso and Force India appear to struggle, neither team did a run on the super soft tyres during this session.
Manor meanwhile still have some way to go before they can fight with anybody else, finding themselves again more than a second behind the car in 20th position.
