Autograph sessions at the 2006 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix are bringing fans closer than ever to the world of motor sport and its star performers. The painstakingly-restored Dhow, which used to sail the waters of the Gulf around Bahrain, now plays host to some of the biggest names attending this weekend’s Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Thousands of lucky fans will be going home with signed mementos at the end of the 2006 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix – be they from their favourite Formula One driver, one of the stars of the Porsche Michelin Supercup or from the stellar cast of national and international celebrities attending the event.

Williams, McLaren-Mercedes, Ferrari, Midland and Toyota have already been out to meet the 17,000-strong crowd that gathered today for the opening day’s practice sessions. They were joined by Radio Bahrain’s breakfast DJ Krazy Kevin, taking time out from his hectic schedule as one of the celebrities in the Pro-Celebrity Race to entertain the throng.

Still more teams and personalities will take time out to meet their fans and to promote the meet their fans at ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’. The autograph sessions on the Dhow form part of the many Vending Area attractions, including merchandise shops, that are new for 2006 including a Porsche pedal car track for children, bungee jumping, traditional crafts, the FIA Think Before you Drive campaign and performances by break-dancing groups, fire dancers and ‘globe of death’ motorcycle performers to name… but a few of the delights on offer.
