Pirelli announced individual tyre selections for the Italian GP
F1’s tyre manufacturer Pirelli announced the individual tyre choices for the forthcoming Italian GP. Teams opted for very similiar allocations for Monza after they made ’colorful’ choices in recent races.
The Italian company chose the trio of medium, soft and supersoft for the high-speed circuit of Monza. Its compounds proved to be so durable in the last seasons that it led to tactically unexciting one-stop strategies. In a bid to make the race more thrilling in terms of strategy and enable the teams to work with different strategies, Pirelli brings the supersoft compound as the softest compound available.
Force India is set to become the ’most conservative team’ as it ordered three sets from the mediums. The Indian-Anglo team is usually the squad with the most sets from the hardest compound.
Most drivers ordered seven sets from the supersofts. Haas is the bravest team with its nine sets for both its drivers.
Top teams – Ferrari, Mercedes – have very similiar tyre choices. Hamilton and Vettel have identical choices while Raikkönen and Rosberg went also the same way in terms of tyres.
Nico Hülkenberg stands out with his aggressive tyres choice as he piled up many sets from the softest and hardest compound, but only ordered two sets of softs.
