Arrivabene proud of his team
Ferrari’s team principal Maurizio Arrivabene praised him team for having done a great recovery at the Hungaroring to score a double win for the Scuderia following the team’s problems and lack of pace at Silverstone.
Ferrari could not match the pace of its rival Mercedes at the Silverstone round which was only amplified by its tyre woes at the end of the GP. The team was put under enormous pressure after the race and concerns were only growing about Mercedes’ ever improving and seemingly dominant form.
However, the Scuderia could turn its fortunes around at the twisty Hungaroring and could capitalize on the slow-speed layout which favoured the characteristics of the SF70-H. The fabled Italian squad earned its second one-two finish after the Monaco GP in a very troublesome race amid technical problems for Sebastian Vettel.
Team principal Maurizio Arrivabene was particularly content with the way his drivers and the whole team managed the far from ideal situation.
”A great race and a result obtained in far from easy circumstances. Once again it demonstrated the strength of character at Ferrari. Congratulations to the guys here and back in Maranello, working together in what is the mark of a great team,” started the Italian.
“Seb drove a magnificent race, managing to keep the lead despite the problem with the steering wheel. He was helped by a great performance from Kimi who demonstrated, not only that he is a champion, but also that he is a true team-player.”
Arrivabene, however, reminded that the work cannot slow down as the next two tracks, the high-speed Spa and Monza circuits will pose a real challenge to the SF70-H after Mercedes’ superior pace on similar layouts.
“Here in Hungary, prior to the FIA mandatory shutdown, we continue our development work, in preparation for the Grands Prix in Spa and Monza,” concluded the former marketing expert.
