What a feeling - Permane
Giancarlo Fisichella’s race engineer, Alan Permane, stepped onto an F1 podium for the first time in his life today. It was the third victory for the Italian Mild Seven Renault F1 driver and his second with the Renault team.
Interview with Alan Permane
Alan, when were you told that you would be going to the podium for the Renault F1 Team today?
"On the last lap, Flavio came on the radio and said “if Fisi wins, you’re going to the podium.” I couldn’t believe it! For a member of the team, that is a really special moment."
So what was it like?
"A bit like being in a dream! All the team was down below, and congratulating the drivers. The trophies arrived, the anthems started. Fisi and Fernando soaked me in champagne… I will never forget this special moment."
Giancarlo took his first win of the season. Are you pleased?
"For sure. He had really bad luck in 2005, and this year started badly as well. To see him bounce back like this is brilliant. He will be raring to go in Melbourne, and I think he will be a force to be reckoned with this year."
