Official: Nico Hülkenberg to replace Lance Stroll
Ahead of the qualifying session for the Eifel Grand Prix, Round 11 of the 2020 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Racing Point has announced that Nico Hülkenberg would take over the driving duties from Lance Stroll.
The Canadian driver was forced to miss the third free practice session at the Nürburgring after he felt unwell. The Silverstone-based team did not provide with further details regarding the conditions of the 21-year-old driver after taking the decision to give him the chance to recover in the rest of the event.
Hülkenberg, who previously deputised for Sergio Perez at the Silverstone events, is familiar with the car and team already, and fortunately was in nearby Cologne.
On the first occasion, at the British Grand Prix, he was unable to start due to technical issues to the gearbox of the car while he finished seventh at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix that took place just a week after.
